E-Type was one of the last 50 to be built in Coventry, having a plaque on the dashboard to commemorate this. It was in fact the last ‘Motor Show’ E-Type and won a gold award for coachwork at the show.
The car has covered a little over 600 miles and is very much in its original condition. It has a 5.3 litre 12-cylinder engine and is capable of reaching speeds upwards of 150mph.
The ‘E-Type’ is still revered by many as being the ultimate in sports car design. It proved its popularity beyond doubt by being manufactured from 1961 to 1975, with only minor styling modifications. Famed for its good-looks and high performance, some 70,000 models were sold over its life-span.
This car can be seen in the Museum’s Icon’s Gallery.
